Are you a systems-driven leader who thrives in a creative, high-energy environment? Do you love managing programs, overseeing logistics, and supporting a team of passionate individuals dedicated to creating an unforgettable camp experience? If so, we're looking for a Program Director to join our leadership team at Camp Augusta, one of the most unique and transformative summer camps in California.

As Program Director, you'll have the opportunity to shape the camp’s culture and success by overseeing 150+ clinic activities, optimizing our camp processes, and ensuring a seamless, high-quality experience for both staff and campers. You'll collaborate with camp leadership to develop and refine programming, lead staff training, and bring innovative ideas to life. Your work will directly impact the effectiveness of our summer and off-season programs, making this role critical to the long-term success of Camp Augusta.

This is a leadership role for someone who enjoys a blend of administrative responsibility and hands-on program management, with a focus on systems, process improvement, and community-building. If you are a strategic thinker, a strong communicator, and a mentor at heart, we'd love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Oversight: Manage and improve 150+ clinic activities that make up the core of our camp program, ensuring all activities run smoothly and align with Camp Augusta's mission and values.
  • Logistics Management: Coordinate scheduling, supply organization, and logistical operations to ensure seamless execution of camp programming.
  • Staff Leadership: Oversee staff training, mentoring, and support throughout the camp season. Help foster a positive and collaborative environment where staff feel empowered to excel in their roles.
  • Big-Picture Program Development: Use feedback from campers, staff, and past seasons to implement creative innovations and drive continuous improvement in our programming. Collaborate with camp leadership to evaluate and refine activities, processes, and the overall camper experience.
  • Off-Season Role: If you are interested in a year-round position, you'll play a key role in hiring and training new staff, refining programs based on past experiences, and working on camper registration and planning for the upcoming season.
  • Community Building: As a leader, you'll be an integral part of creating a supportive, fun, and growth-oriented camp culture for both staff and campers, helping everyone thrive.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience: At least two-three summer of experience at a residential summer camp, or 100+ hours of direct mentorship work with youth. You should have a proven track record of leading and innovating in camp environments.
  • Skills: A love for systems, processes, and logistics. You are detail-oriented, yet able to keep an eye on the big picture, constantly improving operations and camp activities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or Google Suite is required.
  • Passion: A strong commitment to creating meaningful experiences for youth and staff, with a passion for program development and staff support.
  • Leadership: An ability to lead and inspire a diverse team, mentoring both staff and campers with empathy, energy, and professionalism.
  • Personal Qualities: Emotional and physical stamina to engage with a vibrant camp community of 100+ campers and 60+ staff for 9 weeks of summer camp.
  • Education & Background: A background in youth-focused work, camp management, recreation, or a related field is a plus. A GPA of 3.0+ and a desire to learn and grow are also helpful.
