At Camp Hoblitzelle, we’re seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Housekeepers and hospitality leaders. In this role, you’ll help create a welcoming and clean environment for campers, staff, and guests while growing personally and spiritually.

As part of our vibrant camp community, you’ll do more than just housekeeping—you’ll be a positive role model, participate in fun camp activities, and build lifelong friendships. Plus, you’ll gain valuable skills in teamwork, leadership, and service that will set you apart on your journey ahead.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Supervision and Guidance:
    • Provides guidance and positive role modeling to campers, ensuring their safety and well-being.
    • Assists in activities for the assigned group of campers in alignment with the camp schedule.
    • Demonstrates Christian values and principles in all interactions, serving as a positive example for campers.
    • Demonstrates effective camper behavior management and utilizes appropriate communication and discipline techniques as trained, when required.
    • Promotes and stimulates camper participation to enhance their overall camp experience.
    • Assists in preparing our camp building and facilities for our campers, staff, and guests.
    • Takes on diverse housekeeping responsibilities, including the cleaning of restrooms, offices, and various camp facilities as scheduled by housekeeping supervisor.
    • Ensures the cleanliness and sanitization of assigned facilities including bathrooms, attending to sinks and toilets, polishing mirrors, and restocking supplies. Additionally, handles sweeping, vacuuming, mopping of floors, as well as maintaining the cleanliness of the outside of buildings such as windows.
    • Keeps track of the staff laundry schedule and handles the daily laundering of camp linens. Collects, washes, folds, stores, and distributes linens while ensuring their accountability, as assigned by the supervisor.
    • Performs all duties in compliance with camp rules, safety, and health regulations as trained.
    • Reports any safety hazards to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
  2. Community Engagement:
    • Actively participates in activities when not in a dining attendant role, contributing to the maintenance of a lively camp learning environment and fostering engagement.
    • Participates enthusiastically as a team member in all-camp activities, evening programs, and special events.
    • Embarks on a transformative journey as a participant in the Service and Leadership Training (MIRA) program, where you'll play a pivotal role in two key areas: contributing to the essential hospitality support teams by serving in the role of Camp Housekeeper and supporting camp counselors in mentoring and leading campers through various activities.
    • Actively promotes and embodies the values of Camp Hoblitzelle's summer camp program, fostering an environment that aligns with the camp's mission and principles.
    • Integrates faith into daily activities, contributing to the spiritual growth and development of campers within the Christian camp community.
    • Sits with camper tables during meals, serving as a table monitor.
  3. Program & Activities Assistance:
    • Assists with camp program activities and other assigned tasks, collaborating closely with other team members.
    • Always promotes quality of programs and safety of campers in cooperation with camp rules and regulations.
    • Engages in essential ministry duties, including sharing approved devotional content, participating in prayer sessions with campers, and participating in camp worship times.
  4. Safety and Security:
    • Ensures the accountability, security, and safety of campers during all camp activities.
    • Reports all accidents or safety hazards to supervisors promptly and accurately, following camp procedures.

What we are looking for in you:

  • Must be at least 15-17 years old.
  • A heart for others and a mind towards Christ.
  • Should be self-motivated and teachable.
  • Prior knowledge and skills training in Housekeeping, Hospitality, Child Education, Children’s Ministry, or similar field is recommended but not required.
  • A willingness to abide by Camp Hoblitzelle’s doctrinal statement and policies.
  • CPR & First Aid Certified or capable of passing qualification (Cert. opportunities provided during Staff Training week.)

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Some physical requirements of the Camp Housekeeping/Laundress position could be endurance including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate housekeeping/laundress equipment and activities are required. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering a program in the facility available. Operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and varying environmental conditions.
