Job summary

YMCA of the Pines is seeking a Day Camp Counselor to supervise a group of campers in a seasonal day camp, ensuring safety and a positive, inclusive experience aligned with YMCA values. You will learn each camper’s needs, support problem-solving, and contribute to engaging activities under supervision of the Senior Manager of Youth Development.

The role requires high school graduation or equivalent, 18+ years old, and prior child care experience.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or youth preferred.
• Ability to relate to peers and follow supervision.
• CPR/First Aid/ AED certifications and child abuse prevention training during Pre-Season Camp Trainings.

Responsibilities

• Ensure general safety and supervision of campers.
• Identify and meet each camper’s needs and foster positive interactions.
• Plan and implement culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate activities.
• Maintain program standards including safety and cleanliness.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Follow YMCA policies including safety, emergencies and abuse prevention.
