Job summary

Beck’s Hybrids in Olivia, MN offers a part-time Research Intern (Breeding) position for current college students. The internship runs May–August 2027 and includes housing support.

You will gain hands-on experience across corn and soybean research, including field work, breeding activities, and molecular lab exposure. You will travel for seed preparation, planting test plots, data collection, and may assist in the breeding nursery and lab activities.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish priorities, work independently, work as a team member and proceed with objectives without supervision.
• Overtime is required.
• Overnight travel is required.
• Agriculture experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Seed Preparation: travel to Beck’s locations and assist with seed preparation.
• Plot Planting: travel with Beck’s staff to planting test plots.
• Data Collection: assist with collecting early and mid-season agronomic notes.
• Breeding Nursery: may travel and work at Beck’s location to assist with pollinating corn breeding nursery.
• Laboratory: may assist in molecular marker and/or transformation labs.
• Other duties as required by supervisor.
