Job summary

Appian invites ambitious students to join a Summer 2027 Software Engineering Intern program at our McLean, VA headquarters. You will contribute to production‑adjacent engineering work within a small, high‑performing team and learn modern enterprise software design, testing, and deployment at scale.

You’ll work alongside engineers using cutting‑edge AI tools to accelerate development while upholding high standards for quality and correctness.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with a strong academic record.
• Must be returning to school after Summer 2027 internship to continue degree requirements.
• Ability to commit to a full‑time (40 hours/week) schedule for the 10‑week summer program.

Responsibilities

• Develop Clean Software by applying data structures, algorithms, and OO programming to full‑stack components.
• Engineer with AI by using AI coding tools to accelerate development while ensuring quality.
• Debug and learn systems thinking by supporting issue investigation and identifying root causes under mentor guidance.
• Collaborate and communicate in design discussions, stand‑ups, and code reviews to translate requirements into technical solutions.
