Job summary

Danone North America is offering a Summer 2027 Product Development Intern (UG) in the Research & Innovation team. The 10-week program runs May 31–August 6, with a 40-hour week, hybrid schedule, and 3+ days in the office during Colorado summer.

You will contribute to prototype product development, lab testing, and cross-functional collaboration, culminating in leadership-presented findings; housing/relocation support available.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a four-year undergraduate degree in a related field.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams; strong written/oral communication.
  • Self-starter mindset with initiative to identify opportunities.
  • Competence in computer applications and data-driven decision support.
  • Project management skills and ability to lead projects through stages.
  • Previous internship or work experience is preferred.
  • Interest in consumer-packaged goods/manufacturing with Danone after graduation.
  • Familiarity with certification programs is a plus.

Short Intro and About the Job

Our Summer Internship Experience (SIE) is a 10-week program that allows students to dive into a project relevant to their studies to further grow and develop their learnings.


During our 10-week program you will participate in trainings, development sessions, as well as lots of exciting programming!


May 31st, 2027 - August 6th, 2027.


WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR INTERNSHIP:


  • A 10-week summer experience immersed in Danone USA's Research & Innovation team

ASSIGNMENTS MAY INCLUDE:

The Product Development Intern may assist in a number of project support roles in the Research & Innovation department. Specific project responsibilities will be identified 30-60 days prior to the start of the internship, based on business need and intern interests.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Leverage scientific expertise and complete projects using appropriate research, statistical methods, and technical reporting.

  • Plan, execute, and manage the development of prototype products & processes in lab and pilot plant. Maintain stringent technical and experiment documentation.

  • Develop supplier relationships to deliver against project needs.

  • Complete lab testing and shelf-life studies as needed.

  • Leverage sensory and consumer testing insights to create great-tasting, high-performing products that delight consumers and are superior to the competitive set.

  • Work with, and provide technical product leadership, to cross-functional teams including but not limited to Marketing, Sales, Business Development, Operations, Finance, Engineering, and Quality Assurance.


The base compensation range for this position is $25-28 per hour.


About You

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


  • Candidate must be pursuing a four-year undergraduate degree and have completed courses, in Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Food Processing, or a related major.

  • Proven leadership, problem-solving and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and in teams

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Self-starter who takes initiative to identify areas of opportunity and take action

  • A high level of competence in computer applications and the ability to use technology as a decision-support tool

  • Ability to identify and evaluate tactical methods to achieve objectives, identify deviations from the plan, and facilitate resolution

  • Ability to handle confidential information and use discretion within and outside of the organization

  • Project management skills and ability to lead projects through all phases.

  • Previous internship or work experience (strongly preferred)

  • Interest in the consumer-packaged goods / manufacturing industry with the desire to start a career with Danone Brands after graduation (strongly preferred)

  • Familiarity with certification programs preferred but not required (such programs may include non-GMO Project, USDA Organic, Kosher, Vegan, Gluten Free).
