Job summary

American Family Insurance is offering a Cybersecurity internship in Boston, MA, a 10 to 14 week program starting mid May and ending in August. You will work with cloud/platform security engineers on real projects that impact customers and communities.

You'll gain exposure to various areas, participate in security controls deployments, automation, and metrics reporting, and have opportunities for networking and coaching.

Qualifications

• Must be a student at an accredited four-year college or university during the internship.
• Graduation expected August 2027 or later.
• Pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD aligned with internship role.
• Develop Python skills and learn CloudFormation/Terraform quickly.

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of our business, corporate culture and structure to support your work.
• Contribute creative ideas and strategic approaches in response to changing situations.
• Assist with the implementation and validation of cloud security controls across cloud platforms to support secure application and infrastructure deployments.
• Contribute to the development of security metrics, dashboards, and documentation to enhance visibility into the organization’s cloud security posture.
• Partner with cybersecurity engineers to identify, remediate, and document cloud security misconfigurations through automation, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts.

Job description

An internship with our company is a great opportunity to build your skillset and explore your career interests. Our summer student internship is a 10 to 14 week program that starts in mid May and ends in August. During your internship, you’ll work on impactful projects that make a difference at our company, with our customers, and in our communities.

You’ll also gain exposure to different areas of our business and have numerous opportunities for networking and coaching.

Interns may be eligible for a one-time hiring bonus to assist with housing costs depending upon proximity to our company office location.

Compensation Minimum: $25.00
Compensation Maximum: $39.00

As a Cybersecurity intern, you will work alongside other cloud/platform security engineers on the team. You will learn how to deploy security controls in the cloud, lead projects to correct existing misconfigurations, improve automation/documentation, and work on metrics/reporting.
