Job summary

Sun Life U.S. invites interns to join the Health & Risk Solutions Stop Loss Underwriting team in a hybrid program near our US offices, including Wellesley, MA.

You will support the manual underwriting quoting process and pricing for new business alongside a mentor, gaining hands-on experience in stop-loss underwriting. The internship targets undergrad or grad students in Finance, Business, Mathematics or related fields, eligible to work in the United States, and able to work full-time (40

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university during the internship (June 2027–August 2027).
• Undergraduate or graduate student in Finance, Business Administration, Mathematics or related field.
• Eligible to legally work in the United States.
• Able to work full-time (40 hours/week) during the intern session.

Responsibilities

• Verify customer information within the system for accuracy.
• Identify and obtain missing information material for assessment/pricing.
• Input customer logistics to enable quote generation.
• Analyze information on industry, demographics, and criteria.
• With a mentor, evaluate, price and propose rate on Stop Loss new business.
• Communicate pricing to internal sales and underwriting partners.
• Manage workload to meet productivity and time standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This internship will be hybrid, and interns must be located near one of our US based offices - Wellesley, MA; Kansas City, MO; Hartford, CT; Portland, ME; Milwaukee, WI.

The Role

The Health & Risk Solutions Stop Loss Underwriting team is looking for a proactive, positive, and dynamic team player to join our team as an intern supporting our manual underwriting quoting process. As a member of the Stop Loss Underwriting team, you will be a part of the leading direct provider of stop loss insurance in the United States. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Verify customer information within the system to ensure accuracy.
• Identify and obtain missing information material for assessment and/or pricing of the risk.
• Input customer logistics to enable generation of the quote.
• Analyze information on industry, demographics, and other standard criteria.
• Working with a mentor, evaluate, price and propose rate and strategy on Stop Loss new business within new business guidelines.
• Communicate pricing to internal sales and underwriting partners
• Manage assigned workload to meet internal productivity and time service standards as well as field office priorities.
• Other duties as assigned

• Eligible to legally work in the United States
• Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) during the Intern session
