Job summary

Shield AI invites motivated electrical engineering students to join a hands-on internship program. You will work on avionics assemblies, test fixtures, and power electronics while collaborating with mission-driven teams across disciplines.

This paid 10–12 week program offers mentorship, real project contribution, and potential full-time opportunities after completion. Ideal for students graduating December 2027 or Spring 2028, with opportunities to explore high-growth tech environments.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate/Graduate/PhD student pursuing Electrical Engineering or related STEM field.
• Strong understanding of fundamental engineering concepts (EE/Mech/Physics/Math).
• Experience on multidisciplinary hardware development projects (internship, job, club, personal project).
• Experience with PCB schematic and layout tools (Altium, KiCAD, Eagle).
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ownership of project outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Own requirements gathering, design, and validation of avionics assemblies and test fixtures.
• Gain expertise across EE disciplines designing power electronics, communications, RF, and more.
• Design test stands and fixtures including relays, PLCs, PCBAs, harnessing, and hardware.
• Utilize Python to automate test sequences, analyze results, or run simulations.
• Contribute to cross-functional design reviews and advocate for manufacturability improvements.
• You are an undergraduate/graduate/PhD student in EE or related STEM field.
• Demonstrate adaptability and innovation under pressure to meet project demands.

• Own requirements gathering, design, and validation of multiple avionics assemblies and/or test fixtures.


• Gain expertise in multiple disciplines within EE as you design systems for power electronics, communications, RF, and more.


• Design test stands and test fixtures, which may include relays, PLCs, PCBAs, harnessing, and various other pieces of electrical and mechanical equipment.


• Utilize Python to automate test sequences, perform analysis, or run simulations.


• Contribute to and attend cross-functional design reviews. Advocate for design changes that result in simpler manufacturing processes.


• Other duties as assigned.


• You are an undergraduate, graduate or PhD student pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field.


• Strong understanding of fundamental engineering concepts, including EE, Mech E, Programming, Physics, and Mathematics.


• Experience working on multidisciplinary hardware development projects, which can be from an internship, job, club, team, personal project, etc.


• Great written and verbal communication.


• Demonstrated history of showing ownership of project outcomes and delivering exceptional results.


• Record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards, and being kind to others.


• Expected to graduate in December 2027 or Spring 2028.


• Experience with PCB schematic and layout tools, including Altium, KiCAD, Eagle, etc…


• Experience with Python or any scripting language.


• Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, etc…


• Demonstrated adaptability, agility, and the ability to innovate under pressure to meet dynamic project demands and drive successful

Salary compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location.
