Job summary

Shield AI in Boston seeks an Electrical Engineering student for a 10-week paid internship to help develop state-of-the-art AI products. You will own requirements gathering, design, and validation of avionics assemblies, and gain experience in power electronics, RF, and test fixtures, with Python automation for tests and simulations.

You will collaborate in cross-functional design reviews, receive mentorship from Shield AI engineers, and may receive a job offer at the end.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate, graduate or PhD student pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field.
• Strong understanding of fundamental engineering concepts, including EE, Mech E, Programming, Physics, and Mathematics.
• Experience working on multidisciplinary hardware development projects, which can be from an internship, job, club, team, personal project, etc.
• Great written and verbal communication.
• Demonstrated history of showing ownership of project outcomes and delivering exceptional results.
• Record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards, and being kind to others.

Responsibilities

• Own requirements gathering, design, and validation of multiple avionics assemblies and/or test fixtures.

• Design test stands and test fixtures, which may include relays, PLCs, PCBAs, harnessing, and various other pieces of electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Utilize Python to automate test sequences, perform analysis, or run simulations.
• Contribute to and attend cross-functional design reviews. Advocate for design changes that result in simpler manufacturing processes.
• Other duties as assigned.

Preferred qualifications:

• Expected to graduate in December 2027 or Spring 2028.
• Experience with PCB schematic and layout tools, including Altium, KiCAD, Eagle, etc...
• Experience with Python or any scripting language.
• Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, etc...
• Demonstrated adaptability, agility, and the ability to innovate under pressure to meet dynamic project demands and drive successful

$38 - $73 an hour

$38- $73 an hour - Your salary will be determined by academic level.

Pay is just one part of your total rewards package at Shield AI. You may also be eligible for a stipend to subsidize relocation costs. As an intern, you will receive the opportunity to attend presentations from company leaders, social and networking events, as well as mentorship from current Shield AI Engineers. Interns are also eligible for paid company holidays.

Intern Program Dates:

June 2nd - Aug 8th

OR

June 23rd - Aug 29th

• You MUST be available to start on EITHER June 2nd or June 23rd.
