Job summary

NRDC’s E2 internship in San Francisco offers hands-on experience supporting economy-environment policy initiatives. You will assist with research, policy briefs, and communications for California Advocacy Day, while helping recruit business voices and build materials for events.

The role emphasizes collaboration, initiative, and creative problem-solving as you work with a national, nonpartisan team committed to environmental and economic health.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program; rising sophomores, juniors, seniors, and May 2027 graduates eligible.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Project management and/or problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support projects and priorities for E2 (Economy+Environment).
• Report to the E2 Senior Western States Advocate; onsite 3 days/week in San Francisco.
• Develop, support, and execute projects advancing clean economy initiatives and state/federal policies.
• Research and write policy briefs and communications for California Advocacy Day (Aug 2027).
• Develop materials for Advocacy Day and assist with business voices recruitment and events.
• Expand and amplify diverse business voices within E2 chapters and targeted regions.
• Support recruitment and asset development for E2’s Tech for Innovation and Energy program.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Support ongoing projects and priorities for E2 (Economy+Environment), a national, nonpartisan group advocating for policies beneficial to both the environment and economy.
• Report to the E2 Senior Western States Advocate based in the San Francisco office, with an expectation to be onsite 3 days per week.
• Develop, support, and execute projects advancing clean economy initiatives and state and federal policies.
• Support E2's California Advocacy Day in August 2027 by researching and writing policy briefs and other communications.
• Develop materials for Advocacy Day and assist with business voices recruitment and events.
• Help expand and amplify diverse business voices within E2 chapters and targeted regions.
• Support recruitment and asset development for E2’s Tech for Innovation and Energy program.

About You

The company is looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program; rising sophomores, juniors, seniors, and recent graduates (May 2027) are eligible.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Project management and/or problem-solving skills.

Compensation & Benefits

• Paid internship with a stipend of $7,000.00, paid bi-weekly over the 10-week assignment.
• Duration: 10 weeks, with a 35 hours/week commitment from Monday, June 7, 2027, to Friday, August 13, 2027.
• Hybrid work model requiring interns to be in the office 3 days per week.
