Job summary

Valeo Financial Advisors in Carmel, IN seeks an Investment Research Analyst Intern to gain hands-on experience with Valeo’s centralized Investment Team, developing analytical skills across public and private markets and contributing to client portfolios.

Qualifications

• Current pursuit of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, mathematics, or related field.
• Interest in investment management, asset allocation, and public/private markets.
• Foundational industry knowledge preferred; CFA designation pursued.
• Strong analytical ability to collect, organize, and analyze large data sets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Office products.
• Experience with Bloomberg and Morningstar Direct is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Research public equity and credit managers; present findings to Investment Committee.
• Due diligence on alternative investment managers and private market opportunities.
• Participate in macroeconomic and fundamental trend discussions to inform decisions.
• Support fixed income trading desk with client reporting and portfolio proposals.
• Attend team meetings, investment presentations, and training sessions.
• Query, clean, and analyze advisor and client data.
• Assist Investment Team operations with data entry, documentation, and ad hoc projects.
• Perform investment and portfolio analysis using Excel, Bloomberg, Morningstar Direct, and other tools.

As an Investment Research Analyst Intern, you will gain hands‑on experience by working closely with Valeo’s centralized Investment Team. The paid internship offers the opportunity to develop your analytical skills and deepen your understanding of both public and private markets across equity, fixed income, and alternative investments. You will be involved in real‑world projects and contribute to the research and management of client portfolios.

This in‑person internship is in our Carmel, IN office.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct research on public equity and credit managers, culminating in a capstone presentation to Valeo’s Investment Committee summarizing key findings

• Conduct due diligence on alternative investment managers and private market opportunities

• Participate in team discussions of macroeconomic and fundamental trends and contribute to investment decision‑making processes

• Support Valeo’s centralized fixed income trading desk through client reporting, relative value analysis, and portfolio proposals

• Attend team meetings, investment presentations, and training sessions

• Query, clean, and analyze advisor and client data

• Support Investment Team operations through data entry, database maintenance, documentation, and other ad hoc projects

• Perform investment and portfolio analysis utilizing Excel, Bloomberg, Morningstar Direct, and other research tools

QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

• High level of attention to detail and accuracy

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong computer skills, specifically advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products

• Foundational industry knowledge is preferred along with pursuing the CFA designation

• Working knowledge of Bloomberg and Morningstar Direct is not required, but is considered a plus?

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, mathematics, or a related field

• Strong interest in investment management, asset allocation, and public and private markets
