The Summer 2027 Artificial Intelligence (Operations) Undergraduate Internship provides an exciting opportunity for students to gain practical, hands‑on experience supporting the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across Health Plan Operations (HPO). This internship is designed to develop the next generation of diverse business professionals by providing exposure to how AI-driven solutions can enhance operational efficiency, improve customer experiences, and support strategic decision‑making throughout the organization.
Interns will work alongside operational leaders, business teams, and technology partners to explore and support AI‑related initiatives across key Health Plan Operations functions, including Appeals, Member Service, Enrollment & Billing, Provider Operations, Claims, and Benefits Administration. Participants will gain insight into how emerging AI technologies, automation, predictive analytics, and process intelligence are transforming healthcare operations and delivering value for members, providers, and the business.
Through hands‑on project work, research, process analysis, and operational support, interns will contribute to initiatives focused on identifying opportunities for AI enablement, optimizing business processes, improving service delivery, and enhancing operational performance. The program will provide training, mentorship, networking opportunities, and exposure to a variety of career paths at the intersection of healthcare operations, business strategy, innovation, and artificial intelligence.
Typical responsibilities include supporting day‑to‑day operational objectives, participating in AI and operational improvement projects, conducting research and analysis, contributing to pilot initiatives and process evaluations, preparing reports and presentations, and developing recommendations that support business decision‑making and operational excellence.
This job has the goal of providing the opportunity to acquire practical experience through direct exposure to the related business line(s) and to develop the next generation of diverse business professionals. To that end, the program will provide hands‑on training and experience in the business line, expose the various career opportunities in the business line and related areas, and prepare participants for positions in the business.
Typical responsibilities include, providing services to the day-to-day operating objectives of the assigned area, participating in projects and programs appropriate to the needs of the assigned area, participating in the planning and implementation of projects and initiatives, conducting research and reporting including recommendations or proposals for action.
Full or part-time enrollment in an accredited college or university baccalaureate program.
Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Business Administration or Finance program.
This internship is intended for students interested in the business and operational application of Artificial Intelligence within healthcare, providing exposure to how AI can improve processes, enhance service delivery, and support strategic operational decision‑making across Health Plan Operations.
