Job summary

Southern States Cooperative, Inc. is offering an internship program in South Carolina where students participate in hands-on agronomy operations, crop scouting, soil sampling, and data collection.

You will support sales and field activities, interact with customers, and gain exposure to cooperative business operations. The internship includes a final presentation and networking opportunities with company leaders, with housing and transportation arrangements to be secured by the intern.

Responsibilities

• Assist agronomy sales and operations teams with daily activities.
• Conduct crop scouting, field observations, and data collection.
• Support soil sampling and tissue sampling programs.
• Help prepare and monitor agronomic field trials.
• Observe and participate in customer visits and consultations.
• Learn inventory management, logistics, and operational processes.
• Utilize technology and mobile applications to support agronomy services.
• Participate in safety training and professional development opportunities.
• Complete a final internship project and presentation.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Systems Management, Precision Agriculture, or related degree program
• Sophomore, junior, or senior standing preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Interest in agriculture, agronomy, and customer service
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to walk fields and uneven terrain
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
• Basic computer and mobile technology skills
• Valid driver's license required
