Job summary

Lithium Americas seeks a Sulfuric Acid Plant Shift Supervisor at the Thacker Pass site to lead day-to-day operations, drive safety and compliance, and direct commissioning and start-up activities. You will coordinate with maintenance and other teams to meet production goals while upholding corporate safety standards and environmental stewardship.

The role requires supervisory experience, strong technical knowledge of chemical processes, and the ability to work rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in mineral processing or chemical manufacturing.
• 2+ years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in greenfield or brownfield start-up environments.
• Ability to work a rotating shift schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays).
• Strong understanding of chemical plant principles, processes, and unit operations.
• Proficiency with plant control systems (DCS) and laboratory data interpretation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead operations staff within a multi-discipline framework.
• Strong focus on safety, compliance, and environmental stewardship.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to motivate and influence teams.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications.

Responsibilities

• Champion a Safety-First culture by ensuring operations comply with safety policies and regulatory standards.
• Supervise operations crews and contractors; conduct performance evaluations.
• Lead commissioning and start-up to safely achieve design capacity.
• Monitor KPIs for safety, production, and efficiency; report findings.
• Troubleshoot production issues and coordinate with departments.
• Coordinate hourly operators to meet daily production targets.
• Assist in emergency planning and incident investigations; implement corrective actions.
• Ensure reporting and record-keeping requirements are met.
• Manage production schedules for the Sulfuric Acid Plant.
