Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a SUE Technician based in our San Antonio & Dallas, TX offices. You will support subsurface utility engineering by locating utilities with electromagnetic and geophysical methods, and by operating a vacuum excavation truck to expose utilities.

This role requires the ability to read and interpret records and plans, strong communication skills, and comfort working outdoors in varied weather.

Qualifications

• Minimum 0-2 years of experience using electromagnetic and geophysical designating technologies.
• Must quickly grasp new technologies.
• Strong reading comprehension and communication skills.
• Enjoy outdoor work in various weather conditions.
• Occasional travel out of town and overtime may be required.
• Able to walk long distances daily and lift heavy equipment up to 80 lbs.
• Must prioritize safety of self and others.
• Able to read, write and understand English for job communications.

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a SUE Technician based in our San Antonio & Dallas, TX offices!

Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) is a branch of engineering that deals with mitigating risks associated with new infrastructure design and construction. We work closely with engineers and utility owners to help identify utility conflicts using an array of technologies, including electromagnetic line locators, ground penetrating radar, GPS, conventional survey and vacuum excavation. Our work requires a high level of precision and technical ability.

Responsibilities

• Workwith a team of talented individuals to help tackle a wide variety of projects.
• Read and interpret utility records, as-built and survey drawings and highway design plans.
• Designate existing utilities using electromagnetic and geophysical technologies.
• Operate a vacuum excavation truck and perform test holes to expose utilities.
• Utilize appropriate maintenance of traffic.
