Job summary

JMT is seeking an experienced SUE Party Chief to join the Underground Utilities, Land Surveying, and Mapping team in Virginia Beach, VA. The role involves leading field crews, planning surveys, and ensuring accurate utility mapping using Vacuum Excavation and Ground Penetrating Radar equipment.

Candidates should have at least five years of experience in utility designating and locating, with a strong ability to lead projects.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years in utility designating/locating with leadership experience.
• Experience with land surveying is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Participates in pre-survey planning with PMs, engineers, and contractors.
• Allocates work, mentors field crew, and provides time estimates.
• Train crew in mapping methods, equipment use, and safety procedures.
• Perform surveying calculations using tools like AutoCAD.
• Travel to job sites as required.
