The GEL Group, Inc. in Raleigh, NC seeks an experienced SUE Crew Chief to lead field operations for underground utility designation, vacuum excavation, and mapping projects. You will work independently and with a team to deliver accurate utility information while prioritizing safety, quality, and customer service.

You will operate RD and GPR systems, interpret records and drawings, and mentor junior technicians. Travel to project sites is expected; a valid license is required.

Qualifikationen

• Minimum 5 years of utility locating experience.
• Minimum 3 years of Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) experience.
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and customer-service skills.
• High School Diploma required
• Practical knowledge of the SUE process and Quality Levels D through A.
• Experience with electromagnetic locating equipment (e.g., Radiodetection RD, Metrotech Vivax).
• Experience with Ground Penetrating Radar systems.
• Experience using vacuum excavation equipment for utility investigations.
• Ability to read and interpret utility records, plans, and construction drawings.
• Ability to work independently and mentor field personnel.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Valid driver’s license and clean MVR

Aufgaben

• Lead and direct daily SUE field operations and coordinate utility designation and mapping activities.
• Operate electromagnetic locating equipment and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) systems.
• Perform QC reviews of field data and utility mapping deliverables.
• Read and interpret utility records, as-built plans, and construction drawings.
• Train and mentor SUE technicians and other field personnel.
• Ensure safety procedures and quality-control practices are followed.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, crews, owners, contractors, and clients.
• Maintain field equipment, vehicles, reports, and field notes.
• Support survey and geospatial operations as needed.
