Overview

Position Title: Substance Use Disorder Supervisor
Department: Substance Use Disorder
Position Reports to: SUD Director
Status: Full-Time/Exempt

Position Summary: The Substance Use Disorder Supervisor provides leadership and oversight for the outpatient Substance Use Disorder program, ensuring high-quality clinical services, regulatory compliance, and program effectiveness. The Supervisor maintains a limited caseload, facilitates clinical services, oversees program coverage and capacity, and works closely with department leadership, Quality Assurance, and administrative staff to meet fiscal goals, support integrated care, and ensure successful patient outcomes across all service sites.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise all efforts of the outpatient Substance Use Disorder program.
  • Oversee/supervise counselors, interns, volunteers and outreach staff in the department.
  • Train any new program staff, interns and volunteers on all aspects of job responsibilities.
  • Ensure that the daily fiscal goals set by Program Director are met daily and that billable services are turned in and documentation is confirmed.
  • Oversee all referrals for all outside sources.
  • Carry a small caseload between 12-15 clients.
  • Ensure all patients’ rosters are current with accurate information weekly.
  • Facilitate groups, provide intakes, enrollments, assessments, screenings, treatment planning, urine testing / breathalyzer testing are conducted for each program patient. Conduct collateral services, crisis intervention, and groups as needed.
  • Responsible for all required forms and documentation to be provided to county/state on time and complete.
  • Oversees all reporting required by County but not limited to LACRY, CALOMS, Homeless numbers and any other additional reporting required.
  • Responsible for ensuring all Substance Use Disorder documentation is completed and patient charts are up to date to ensure audits have minimal findings.
  • Attend county meetings, outreach events, resource meetings and continually be establishing relationships.
  • Responsible for developing a client treatment plan and ensuring that the plan is seen through completion.
  • Ensure program has accurate coverage.
  • Work with department staff to provide transportation to youth/patients.
  • Meet with staff weekly for case conference/staff meetings.
  • Outreach to ensure program is at all times at capacity; when program retention is low, meet with Program Director to discuss outreach plan.
  • Provide written reports of activities to the County of Los Angeles.
  • Meets regularly with other Department leaders and helps continued close coordination and integration of SUD-MAT with Behavioral Health, Primary Care, Women’s Health, Prenatal Care, and Homeless outreach Care, Tele-Health, and Dental programs.
  • Complete other tasks, from time to time be identified and assigned by the Program Director.
  • Meets weekly with Quality Assurance staff to ensure all patient charts, intake forms and required county forms are up to date and completed.
  • Meets weekly with Administrative Assistant, Department Director, QA to ensure patient flow and fiscal goals are met.
  • Ensure specialty services are being provided.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Certified substance abuse and addiction counselor.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Spanish bilingual preferred.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in human services/community-based organization programs specifically dealing with alcohol and drug abuse prevention and recovery issues.
  • Must have knowledge and experience working with the Los Angeles County Plan for Alcohol-Related Services.
  • Must demonstrate an understanding of the recovery process, which includes the twelve-step program(s).
  • Must have experience with developing a curriculum for group classes to assist with recovery.
  • Must have experience case managing clients in recovery.
  • Must have experience in observed drug testing of clients.
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Must have experience with SAPC (substance use prevention control) billing procedures.
  • Prior responsibility for self-directed work including work in prevention, education, and recovery areas.
  • Must have experience working in the greater Los Angeles community.
