Job summary

Arc-Community-Services, Inc. seeks a licensed or in-training substance abuse counselor to lead and coordinate SUD treatment within a residential program.

You will assess residents on arrival, develop and adjust treatment plans, and facilitate group sessions using evidence-based curricula. You will work with the Program Manager, Case Managers, and Medical Director to ensure ASAM levels of care and continuing care plans are updated weekly.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience providing services to offender populations.
• Current certification as a substance abuse counselor or in training.
• Supervisory experience to oversee staff and interns as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assess and treat residents for substance use disorders on arrival.
• Coordinate treatment plans with residents, Program Manager, and Case Managers.
• Facilitate evidence-based group therapy using designated curricula.
• Provide individual counseling sessions weekly.
• Update ASAM level of care, treatment, and continuing care plans weekly.

Program ResponsibilitiesProvide substance use disorder assessments and treatment/continuing care plans the first day of a resident’s arrival into the programCoordinate individual substance use disorder treatment plans with the resident, Program Manager, and Case ManagersFacilitate substance use disorder treatment groups using the designated evidence-based curriculaProvide individual substance use disorder counseling sessions for one hour weeklyUpdate treatment and continuing care plans and ASAM level of care weekly and send to Clinical Supervisor for signaturesDevelop Relapse Prevention plans with clientsCoordinate after care services for transitioning residentsDevelop Continuing Care Plans with clients and update weeklyKeep substance use portion of client files up to date in accordance with DHS 75 certification requirementsWork collaboratively with other substance use disorder treatment agencies and provide referrals to community providersAct as consultant for substance use related crisesProvide weekly client updates related to substance use for staffing notes, and prepare substance use section of discharge reportsPrepare weekly updates for the Clinical SupervisorMeet with the Medical Director monthlySupervise urinalysis and breathalyzer testingParticipate in scheduled client staffings and team meetings weeklyMonitor and supervise residentsGather evaluation data, as assignedWork assigned shifts to meet the needs of resident and the agencyServe as on-call staffParticipate in required clinical supervision and training necessary to maintain certification as a substance abuse counselor or substance abuse counselor-in-trainingOther duties as assigned by the Program ManagerSupervisory Responsibilities:Supervise provision of any substance use disorder treatment component by other staff.Supervise any assigned substance abuse intern or volunteer under the direction of the Program ManagerWhat You Will Bring (Qualifications)These qualifications highlight the necessary clinical expertise, experience, and certifications for the role.Expertise & KnowledgeClinical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of Substance Use Disorder treatment, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), ASAM, and DSM-5-TR.Specialized Approach: Knowledge of gender responsive programming and the ability to implement principles of trauma-informed care.Environment Management: Ability to maintain a safe and stable residential treatment environment and effectively engage clients.Required Experience & CertificationProfessional Experience: A minimum of one year of experience providing services specifically to offender populations.Certification: Current certification as a substance abuse counselor or substance abuse counselor-in-training.Supervisory Experience: Experience necessary to supervise the provision of SUD treatment components and assigned interns/volunteers (as noted in the responsibilities).EducationAdvanced Degree: MSW or related advanced degree preferred.Alternative Consideration: A BA in Social Work, or a related degree, will be considered with demonstrated work experience and knowledge.What We Offer Purpose That MattersLead a program that transforms lives.
