Job summary

A geospatial services company is seeking field investigators to locate and verify underground utilities for roadway design projects. Candidates must possess a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work outdoors in various conditions. Experience in utility locating or surveying is preferred. Job description

Performs field investigations to locate, designate, and verify underground utilities in support of roadway design and construction projects for the North Carolina Department of Transportation and related clients. Uses electromagnetic locating equipment, ground penetrating radar, and vacuum excavation to identify utility type, alignment, and depth in accordance with ASCE 38 quality levels (QL-D through QL-A). Collects measurements, coordinates with survey crews and utility owners, documents findings, and helps prevent utility conflicts, construction delays, and damage to critical infrastructure.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Experience

• Experience in utility locating, surveying, construction inspection, or civil engineering field work
• Knowledge of APWA utility color codes
• Familiarity with NCDOT standards and right-of-way procedures
• Experience operating GPR equipment
• Experience with GPS data collection
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
