Job summary

Repsol invites engineering students to join the Alaska Business Unit as a Reservoir Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 program in Anchorage, AK. The role offers hands-on experience with allocation, data workflows, and production reporting within the upstream oil and gas context.

You'll collaborate with Reservoir and Facilities Engineers, Land, and Production Accounting to learn how volumes flow from wellhead to sales, while building Power BI dashboards and gaining exposure to OFM and Petex

Qualifications

• Pursuing or completing an engineering degree; petroleum/geosciences preferred but open to other engineering disciplines.
• GPA 3.3 or higher; must be verifiable by transcript.
• Available for a continuous 12-week period in Summer 2027 (May 17–Aug 6).

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily well-level production and injection allocation; track data and perform end-of-month corrections.
• Update production data in allocation systems and build Power BI dashboards.

Repsol is seeking an engineering student to intern with the Alaska Business Unit during the summer of 2027 in Anchorage, AK.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be assigned a project within an area of interest to be supervised by a senior member of the Reservoir Engineering Team. The Subsurface Engineering Intern will support the daily and monthly processes used to track, validate, allocate, and report oil, gas, and water production and injection for the newest oil field in Alaska. This role provides hand‑son exposure to the full productionvolume lifecycle—from wellhead measurement through gathering systems and facility balances to final sales reporting.

The intern will work closely with Reservoir Engineers, Facilities Engineers, Land, Technical Services and Production Accounting to ensure production data is accurate, timely, and aligned with operational realities in the field.

What the Intern Will Learn

• Learn how to use industry software OFM for production tracking, Petex suite and learn how to build visualizations in PowerBI.
• How volumes move from the wellhead to sales and how allocation ties the two together.
• The relationship between allocation engineering, production engineering , measurement , operations , and accounting.
• How allocation accuracy impacts financial reporting and engineering analysis.
• Hand‑son exposure to real operational challenges in a producing asset during field start up.
• Comparison of production expectations vs actuals and short term forecasting.

Key Responsibilities

Daily + Monthly Allocation Support

• Assist with daily welllevel production and injection allocation for oil, gas, and water volumes. Tracking pressure and temperature data and end of month corrections.
• Help identify and reconcile discrepancies in production data, build a database and visualizations using OFM and PowerBI.

Data Quality & Systems

• Update and maintain production data in allocation systems and production analysis (e.g., Energy Components, Oil Field Manager(OFM)).
• Assist in building Power BI dashboards for visualization of production trends or allocation accuracy.

Operations & Engineering Support

• Work with Reservoir Engineers to monitor performance trends, identify unusual production behavior, or flag potential well or facility issues.

Required Qualifications

• Fully authorized to work for any employer in the US without sponsorship now or in the future. Additionally, we are not authorized for employment under OPT/CPT/F1 visa programs.
• Successful completion of 2 years towards a Bachelor’s (or higher) in an Engineering discipline - Petroleum and Geosciences preferred, but open to other engineering disciplines.
• Students with an expected graduation 2028-2029 are encouraged to apply (juniors or sophomores). May 2027 graduates may only be considered if enrolled in a post‑graduate program.
• Must have cumulative and major GPA of 3.3 or higher, to be confirmed with transcript (unofficial transcript is acceptable**)**
• Must be available for a continuous 12-week period for the duration of the 2027 summer intern program between May 17-Aug 6

Internship Details :

• Position will be based out of Repsol office downtown in Anchorage, AK. Interns are expected onsite each day, and schedule is set by the manager based on project scope and timeline.
• Non‑local candidates may be considered but must arrange their own travel and temporary accommodations. A summer stipend will be provided to help offset out of pocket expenses.
• Students must be available for the full duration of the internship for 12 weeks. Any personal time off must be approved by the supervisor as unpaid leave and should be noted with the recruiter as early as possible.
• Interns will receive an hourly wage but are not eligible for benefits or paid time off. Interns will be compensated for observed company holidays.
