Job summary

Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary School in Maplewood, MN is seeking Substitute Teachers for K–8. This on-call role runs on school days from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, providing a safe, welcoming classroom experience when the regular teacher is absent.

You’ll follow lesson plans, foster a positive learning environment, adapt to grade levels, uphold Catholic values, and collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or preferred with K–12 experience.
• Ability to engage elementary students across grade levels.
• Willingness to complete background checks and trainings.

Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary School is seeking Substitute Teachers for K - 8th grade. Our Substitute Teachers provide a safe, welcoming, and engaging classroom experience for students when their regular teacher is absent. They help keep learning on track while supporting the Catholic mission and values of Presentation of Mary School.This is an on-call position on school days, Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

What You’ll Do:

• Step into the classroom and provide engaging instruction using the teacher’s lesson plans and established curriculum.
• Create a positive, respectful, and supportive learning environment where students feel safe and ready to learn.
• Use a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of students and keep them engaged throughout the school day.
• Support and model the Catholic mission and behavioral expectations of Presentation of Mary School.
• Communicate positively and professionally with students, parents, teachers, and school administration.
• Help maintain a safe and orderly classroom.

What We’re Looking For:

• A bachelor’s degree and previous K–12 school experience are preferred.
• Someone who enjoys working with elementary students and can confidently step into different grade levels and classroom settings.
• The ability to engage students and support a positive learning environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to respond to the needs of students and the school.
• A commitment to the Catholic mission and values of Presentation of Mary School.
• Willingness and ability to complete required background checks, Code of Conduct, and VIRTUS training.
