About Our Campus - Lawrence, KS

Founded in 2001, Prairie Moon Waldorf School is Kansas’ only Waldorf school affiliated as a developing member school of AWSNA and WECAN. PMWS sits on a beautiful 7.5 acres of prairie land in the Kaw River Valley, only minutes from downtown Lawrence. Our school is housed in the Grant Township School building, formed in 1961, located on the Northside of town close to the Lawrence Airport. PMWS is approaching the twenty-fifth year within this schoolhouse, when our doors opened in August of 2005. New faculty and staff join a small, but growing Anthroposophical community and will have the opportunity to be a pioneer of Waldorf education in the Heartland.

Lawrence is an ideal home to a Waldorf school. Home to the University of Kansas, Haskell Indian Nations University and being near cosmopolitan Kansas City, Lawrence provides a rich, international and multicultural life to its residents and visitors with the added benefit of a low cost of living. It has been said that Lawrence is America's largest city without a shopping mall- a statement that reflects a strong commitment to local businesses and pride in the community’s historic downtown. Several years ago, author John Villani identified Lawrence as among the top fifteen best art towns under a population of 100,000, and Lawrence has long been a music center. Substitute Teachers

Prairie Moon Waldorf School – an AWSNA and WECAN Associate Member school – in Lawrence, Kansas seeks a Waldorf early childhood teacher. Prairie Moon Waldorf School opened in 2005 and supports a strong, vibrant family community.

Early Childhood

The early childhood program currently consists of two mixed-age kindergarten classrooms for children ages 3-6 years.

Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have a passion for Waldorf education and experience teaching in a Waldorf early childhood classroom. We seek individuals who works well with others, as well as independently, and who possess a pioneering spirit and enthusiasm for bringing Waldorf education to the heart of America.

Candidates with experience with children and ability to become KDHE qualified as an assistant will be considered. We seek a substitute who works well with others, as well as independently, and who possesses a curiosity of learning about Waldorf education.

In order to sub for a lead teacher, you must meet all requirements for KDHE Lead teacher qualification (including training, background check, and health assessment). Subbing hours could either be from 8am-3pm or 11am-6pm.

We seek a substitute who has a passion for Waldorf education and works well with others, as well as independently, and who possesses a curiosity of learning about Waldorf education.

In order to sub for a lead grades teacher, we ask that you visit our school and have observed each class for the main lesson.

Requirements include: background check, health assessment and TB test, and any training documentation.

Subbing hours are between 7:45 am and 3:15 pm.
