Job summary

Mountainsage in Fort Collins is hiring Substitute Teachers for the 2026-27 school year. This role involves providing instruction and support for students in grades K-8 during the absence of regular teachers.

Description

Substitute Teachers (Guest Teachers)

We are hiring for qualified substitutes for Kindergarten through 8th grades, two homeschool enrichment classes, all specialty subjects: Integrated Services, Spanish, handwork, games/PE, music, practical arts, gardening, performing arts, etc., and administrative support, for the 2026-27 school year. We are currently accepting applications for candidates who would like to be invited for daily jobs as they occur.

As a Substitute Teacher/Guest Teacher, you will be responsible for providing instruction and support to students in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. You will follow lesson plans and maintain classroom management to ensure a productive and safe learning environment for students.

  • Follow lesson plans left by the absent teacher and deliver instruction to students
  • Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment
  • Communicate with school staff and administration as needed
  • Provide support and assistance to students as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and student progress
  • Follow all school policies and procedures

Compensation & Hours:??

The standard school schedule is Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Substitute teachers are paid hourly at the following rates:

  • Up to $21/hour for unlicensed candidates
  • Up to $23/hour for licensed professionals

All paid positions are eligible to participate in PERA, the Public Employees Retirement Association, which provides retirement benefits to public employees in Colorado.

Requirements
Substitute/Guest Teacher Qualifications:
Required
  • Bachelor's Degree, pursuit of a Bachelor's Degree, or a minimum of two years' experience in an educational setting
  • Previous experience as a substitute teacher or in a similar role preferred
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt to different teaching styles and classroom environments
  • Flexibility and willingness to work in different grade levels and subject area
Preferred
  • Waldorf Teacher Certification and/or experience in a Waldorf educational environment
  • Colorado Teaching or Substitute License
Outdoor Learning Environment
