Spectrum 360 A NJ Non Profit Corp. is seeking a Substitute Teacher to provide coverage for absent employees across various roles. The ideal candidate must hold a Substitute Credential or Teaching Certificate and possess strong communication and flexibility skills. Responsibilities include following lesson plans, maintaining a safe environment, and supporting students or colleagues as needed.
This role offers a compensation of $120.00 per day for teaching and $17.00 hourly for paraprofessional work, with the potential for flexible hours.
The Substitute will be responsible for providing coverage for absent employees in various roles within the organization. This individual must be flexible and able to adapt to different environments and tasks as needed.
Substitute Teacher: $120.00 per day
Substitute Paraprofessional: $17.00 hourly
Please be advised that all substitutes must also provide proof of a negative Mantoux (TB) test dated within six months of their first date of employment.
Any holder of a regular teaching certificate issued by the New Jersey Department of Education can qualify as a substitute teacher. Holders of out-of-state teacher certificates generally fulfill substitute credential requirements.
Those not holding a teaching certificate must procure a Substitute Credential valid for day‑to‑day teaching, not to exceed twenty (20) days in one position.
With proof of Chatham residency, the district will support the processing of a Substitute Credential. The Substitute Credential will be issued for a five (5) year period. It must be renewed 6 months prior to the date when it expires.
A Substitute Credential is issued electronically by the Department of Education via its online licensing system NJEdCert and is valid in all public schools statewide.
All substitutes, other than those having teaching certification, must be persons who hold a degree from an accredited four‑year college or have 60 semester hours of college credit.
Applicants for substitute teaching who hold regular certificates issued by the New Jersey Department of Education need not apply for a Substitute Certificate. However, applicants must complete the Criminal History Review Process and receive official clearance before Board of Education approval can be granted.
A substitute certificate is transferable from county to county. If an applicant applies to more than one county for substitute employment, only one certificate will be required. That certificate must be presented to each county in which it is to be used and must be validated by the receiving county.
