Job summary

Pace Center for Girls in Gainesville, FL is seeking dedicated educators for our substitute teacher position, focused on supporting girls’ education with wraparound academic and counseling services. This role operates in a trauma-informed, girl-centered environment designed to help students learn, heal, and grow.

The position offers $19 per hour, flexible days with hours roughly 8AM-4PM, and a comprehensive benefits package aligned with Pace’s commitment to staff development and student success.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or meets the education level of the district’s requirements.
• Attains and/or maintains certification and endorsements by required deadlines.
• Preferred: Florida State Teacher’s Certification.
• Education degree preferred; one year teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to and deliver instructions and lessons provided by the Classroom Teacher in their absence.
• Know how to design and align instruction according to state standards.
• Use formal and informal assessment to monitor progress and plan instruction to meet girls’ individual needs.
• Plan effective classroom instruction with differentiated techniques.
• Create a safe, gender-responsive, trauma-informed, strength-based classroom environment.
• Maintain appropriate behavior standards to support a conducive learning environment.

What This Role Does:

Curriculum and Instruction

• Creates a safe and trusting classroom environment that is gender responsive, trauma informed and strength-based.
• Maintains appropriate standards of behavior to support an environment that is conducive for learning.

Progress Monitoring and Outcomes Measurement

• Promotes confidence, perseverance and responsibility in the students for their achievement of personal academic goals.
• Is knowledgeable about state of Florida graduation requirements and promotes college readiness.

What We Require for the Job:

Required

• Associates degree or meets the education level of the district’s requirements

• Teaching experience in an at-risk youth environment
• Knowledge of state and school districts policies
