Job Description

To provide, on a substitute basis, an instructional classroom environment for students to take full advantage of the instructional programs and available resource materials.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to work with students in a school setting.
• Bilingual in Yup’ik and English preferred.
• Ability to live and work in a cross‑cultural, rural Alaskan environment.
• Ability to carry out the duties described below.

Duties:

1. Under the supervision of a classroom teacher, carry out classroom activities and work with students to reinforce materials initially introduced by the teacher.
2. Assist individual students in need of special attention.
3. Perform clerical duties such as checking and recording student attendance, reviewing notebooks, correcting papers, assisting in testing, make‑up and drill work, and set up and operate equipment.
4. Assist teacher with non‑instructional classroom duties such as snack, restroom and clothing routines.
5. Assist with reading, story telling and listen to individual students read orally.
6. Assist with the supervision of students during lunch periods, assemblies, play periods and on field trips.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Type: Part‑Time
