Job Description

The State College Area School District is currently accepting applications for Substitute Teachers for the 2026-27 school year. The district is seeking candidates who demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and development and possess diverse professional experiences. Organizational and collaborative skills are critical to success in these positions.

Qualifications

• PA Teaching Certification or the ability to obtain a PA Emergency Certification (if not PA teacher certified, a bachelor's degree in any area is required for the emergency certification).
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead and instruct students of all ages.
• Ability to maintain classroom management.
• Flexibility and critical-thinking skills.
• Basic computer skills are recommended but not required.

Job Responsibilities

• Follow the lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.
• Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions, and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each student.
• Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, playground, and cafeteria.
• Provide in-class assignments based on the available lesson plans.
• Take classroom attendance.
