Job summary

LifeWise Academy in Virginia is seeking a dedicated substitute teacher who embodies a mature Christian faith and strong teaching presence. You will participate in LifeWise training and teach classes on an as-needed basis, delivering lessons from the LifeWise curriculum with care and professionalism.

This part-time, non-exempt role emphasizes safe classrooms, clear communication with fellow volunteers and teachers, record keeping, and community representation as a LifeWise ambassador.

Qualifications

• A mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the "What We Believe" section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith
• Active participation in and commitment to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the "What We Believe" section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith

Responsibilities

• Complete substitute teacher training
• Teach LifeWise classes on an as-needed basis
• Implement the lesson plans using the LifeWise curriculum provided by the teacher
• Maintain a safe, organized and stimulating classroom environment following LifeWise policies and procedures
• Follow the program's student discipline policy
• Maintain Records
• Take attendance in each class and provide attendance records to the teacher
• Maintain Classroom
• Know procedures for emergency situations
• Communicate
• Act as a LifeWise Academy ambassador within the community
• Communicate lesson plans with volunteers before class and assign duties
• Communicate with the teacher

LifeWise substitute teachers will demonstrate excellence in Biblical knowledge and teaching abilities. The ideal candidate is an active church participant with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is caring, perceptive and proficient in teaching students.
