Job summary

St. Joseph's Catholic Academy in Texas is seeking a flexible Substitute Teacher to join our sub pool. The role fills in for classroom teachers during temporary absences, providing support, care, and instruction aligned with our Catholic mission.

The substitute works with detailed plans from the classroom teacher and reports to the principal, serving as an extension of the school team in a faith-centered, community-driven environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• College degree preferred.
• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Must meet Diocese/EIM requirements and Diocese policies.

St. Joseph's Catholic Academy is looking to add a positive, flexible, and Faith centered Substitute Teacher to our sub pool. The Substitute Teacher fills in for the classroom teacher in their temporary absence, and works to provide support, care, and instruction in line with the mission of St. Joseph's. St. Joseph's endeavors to build a community which represents the best of our Catholic identity while nurturing learners to the promise we see in each of them. With a well organized program, our substitute teachers follow detailed plans and guides provided by the classroom teacher. This position, with hallmarks of dependability and positivity, reports to the principal, and are extensions of our team as we interact with the community. This job is an as needed position.

Responsibilities

• Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of St. Joseph Catholic Academy.
• Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
• Support and adhere to the Standards of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school.
• Follow instruction set by classroom teacher with logically sequenced objectives based on adopted curriculum.
• Provide appropriate material and resources for students to engage in learning.
• Practice positive, consistent discipline in the management of the classroom.
• Maintain current and accurate records according to school policies.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma
• College Degree Preferred

Certifications and Training:

• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
• Must meet the minimum requirements for teaching field as set forth by the Diocese and TCCED.
