Job summary

Heritage Christian School seeks a dependable substitute teacher to cover for absent colleagues, delivering instruction that aligns with the school’s Christian mission and values.

You will model Christian character, follow prepared lesson plans, manage a respectful classroom, monitor attendance and progress, and collaborate with staff to support student growth within the school’s policy framework.

Qualifications

• Minimum 60 college credits from an accredited institution.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Indiana Substitute Teacher Permit (current or eligible).
• Classroom experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Model Christian character at all times and actively promote the educational philosophy of Heritage Christian School.
• Exhibit the fruit of the Spirit in relationships with fellow teachers, supervisors, board members, parents and students to promote harmony in the school body.
• Accurately follow the prescribed learning experiences (lesson plans) that the regular classroom teacher has prepared.
• Maintain an orderly classroom atmosphere, using consistent, kind, and firm discipline.
• Take reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain accurate and current pupil progress and attendance records.
• Abide by the time schedule for arrival and departure established for the school.
• Assume responsibility for books, materials, equipment, and supplies that belong to the school.
• Perform non-teaching duties, as assigned.
• Adhere to the rules, regulations, and policies of the school as recorded in the faculty handbook or transmitted through the administrators.

Job description

POSITION OBJECTIVE

To serve in a substitute capacity for teachers who are absent from their scheduled teaching assignments. In that role, the substitute will equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to function as mature, responsible Christians in accordance with the school mission statement.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS

A minimum of 60 college credit hours from an accredited institution is required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred. In addition, qualified candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain a current, valid Indiana Substitute Teacher Permit. Classroom experience is strongly preferred.
