The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. seeks a Substitute Teacher to join the Harris Family Children’s Center on an on-call basis. You will support classroom activities, supervise children, and coordinate with staff to ensure a warm, safe environment.

Responsibilities include communicating with families, maintaining classroom order, and modeling positive behavior. Requires an Associates or Bachelor's in early childhood credits and CPR/First Aid certification, with prior experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree with early childhood education/development credits preferred.
  • Must have CPR and First Aid training or be willing to obtain certification.
  • Experience with infants, toddlers, and preschool age children required.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with infants/young children preferred.
  • Background check upon hire and periodic renewal required.

  • Changes diapers and clothing following center protocol.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

On-call, Monday – Friday, 7:30am - 5:30pm.Schedule will vary according to departmental and Academy needs, butwill not exceed 999 hours per year.

Position Purpose

Works with all childcare center teachers to create a warm andcaring environment for young children meeting the social,emotional, intellectual, and physical needs of each child.

Job Responsibilities

  • Models, articulates, and encourages cooperative behavior amongthe children.
  • Changes diapers and clothing following center protocol.

Position Requirements
Education
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree with at least nine credits inearly childhood education/development preferred.
  • Must have CPR and First Aid training or be willing to obtaincertification.
Experience
  • Experience with infants, toddlers, and pre-school, kindergartenand/or elementary school age children required.
  • At least 3 years’ experience working with infants and youngchildren preferred.
  • Experience working with adolescents in an educational settingpreferred.
Physical Requirements
  1. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work andwill require the ability to remain standing for extended periods oftime, go up and down flights of steps, lift children in carriersand push/pull heavy strollers and wagons as well as stoop, kneel,and crouch.
  2. Ability to lift and transport up to 50lbs withoutassistance.
Additional Requirements
  1. Successfully complete upon hire a criminal background check(reviewed every 5 years).
  2. Successfully complete additional components required for DHHS,Childcare Licensing Unit: Upon hire and renewed every 5 years (agerestrictions may apply).
