Job summary

Washington County Public Schools seeks an Alternative School Vehicle Driver to provide safe transportation for up to 10 students who cannot ride a traditional bus. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 21+ years old, and at least five years of driving experience with a valid license.

Expect pre/post-trip inspections, strict safety, and reliable attendance. Location is the Transportation Office with an hourly wage of $21.26 and a 10-month work year.

Qualifications

• Must hold a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Five years of driving experience with a valid license.
• Valid driver's license with no court-ordered restrictions.
• No more than two points on driving record; satisfactory past record.
• Must pass drug and alcohol testing, including pre-employment testing.

Responsibilities

• Transport students safely to and from various schools/programs/destinations.
• Exercise professionalism and maintain appropriate student management.
• Obey all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Maintain use of safety equipment and perform routine checks.
• Exercise leadership while transporting students and supervise behavior.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections for vehicle condition.
• Follow WCPS Bus Driver Manual policies and procedures.
• Transport only authorized students and drop at authorized stops.
• Attend in-service training to maintain certification.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and report incidents.
