Position Purpose

The substitute secretary provides clerical office support in a school office or department on an on‑call, as‑needed basis.

Essential Functions
  • Performs a variety of clerical tasks as assigned by the building administrators.
  • Provides customer service to students, parents, staff and community including answering phone, greeting and directing visitors, resolving conflict and disseminating information.
  • Operates a variety of office equipment.
  • Sorts and distributes mail (internal and external).
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
  • Prepares and processes various district documents to meet district, state and/or federal regulations.
  • Performs data entry, word processing, spreadsheet, and database functions as requested.
  • Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualification Profile
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
