Qualifications

• Must hold a high school diploma or GED.
• Teacher Assistant Certification preferred
• For long-term substitute positions, associate's degree or TA cert & passing Parapro Test Score
• Experience working with school age children in an urban setting preferred.
• Clear BCI through National Fingerprinting required by Law, at personal cost of $45
• This is a day-to-day, on call position.
• Pay rate begins at $16/hr for the first 30 working days and increases to $22.75/hr beginning on the 31st working day.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required

Responsibilities

• Follows the directions from the classroom teacher as the paraprofessional substitute.
• Incorporates educational objectives into ongoing activities.
• Facilitates generalization and maintenance of skills.
• Communicates with students' parents via communication log.
• Schedules activities as directed by the Teacher.
• Present subject matter using lectures, discussions, or role playing as directed.
• Assists students individually or in groups with lesson assignments.
• May need assistance with toileting and lifting.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

This employee is responsible for carrying out the directions from the classroom teacher as appropriate as the paraprofessional for whom he/she is substituting.

Duties of this position include but are not limited to:

• Follows established Individual Educational Plans to improve socially significant behaviors under the supervision of the Teacher and Building Principal/Director of Grants
• Incorporates specific educational objectives into the context of on-going activities, as appropriate
• Facilitates opportunities for generalization and maintenance of skills
• Communicates with students' parents via communication log
• Schedules activities as directed
• Present subject matter to students, utilizing a variety of methods and techniques such as lecture, discussion, and supervised role playing or as otherwise directed by the Teacher
• Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
• May need assistance with toileting and lifting,
• Other duties as assigned.
