Job summary

Portage Township Schools in Portage, Indiana is seeking a Substitute Paraprofessional for grades K-12 to support teachers, tutor students, and assist with classroom tasks.

The position is part-time and includes supervision inside and outside the classroom, preparing instructional materials, and maintaining student confidentiality; starting immediately with a $14 per hour salary.

Responsibilities

• Tutor individual and small groups as directed by the teacher.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Thefollowing responsibilities are essential functions, plus any other duties that may be required by the employer. Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned by thebuilding principal or other administrator.

• Tutor individual and small groups of students as directed by the teacher.
• Facilitate student tasks in activity centers.
• Read to children and listen to children read.
• Assist in the preparation of AV, media and technology for instructional use.
• Help supervise children in and out of the classroom.
• Assist the classroom teacher in completing the clerical tasks of the classroom.
• Respect the confidentiality of the students in all matters at all times.
• Indoor & outdoor student supervision for playground/cafeteria.
• Complete other tasks as assigned by the building principal.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

• A high school diploma and any one of the following:
  • Associates degree or higher OR
  • Two years of college (48 credit hours) OR
  • ParaPro Assessment with a score of 460 OR
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential OR
  • Be willing to complete 10 modules in the online training platformParaeducatorwithin 2 months of employment at PTS (free training resources provided by PTS)
