Lunchtime Solutions is seeking a dependable Substitute Kitchen Helper to support our school food service program on an as-needed basis. This on-site role at Milbank School District involves assisting with food prep, serving students, and keeping the kitchen clean and organized.

Schedule is Monday–Friday with a variable, as-needed basis. You’ll fill in when regular staff are absent, follow simple recipes, and help maintain safety and compliance in busy school kitchens.

Qualifications

• Flexibility to work on an as-needed basis at multiple school locations.
• Strong communication skills; work independently or in a team.
• Ability to follow recipes, measure ingredients and scale for large batches.
• Dependability, integrity and commitment to good customer service.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform frequent standing, bending and twisting.

Responsibilities

• Fill in at school kitchens when team members are out to keep meal service uninterrupted.
• Help prep and serve items, stock stations, follow serving-size and dietary guidelines.
• Follow simple recipes and keep kitchen, storage, and equipment clean using FIFO.
• Maintain food safety, complete basic logs and assist with production records.
• Communicate supply needs, feedback, and updates to the team and supervisors.
• Stock and serve items during meals and help with prep lists and freezer pulls.
• Adapt to different school locations, teams and kitchen environments as needed.
• Assist training of new team members and fill in when someone is out.

Lunchtime Solutions is seeking a dependable, team‑focused Substitute Kitchen Helper to support our school food service program on an as‑needed basis. In this role, you'll step in when regular team members are absent, helping keep meal service running smoothly by assisting with food preparation, serving students, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. This is a flexible role that's perfect for someone who enjoys variety, working with different teams, and making a positive impact on students' day.

What You’ll Do

• Fill in at school kitchens when team members are out, helping ensure meal service continues without interruption.
• Help prep and serve menu items, keep your station stocked, and follow serving‑size and special‑diet guidelines.
• Follow simple recipes like fruit and veggie bars or baked goods while keeping kitchen, storage areas, and equipment clean and organized using FIFO.
• Maintain food safety and compliance Follow food‑safety steps, complete basic logs, assist with production records and help maintain a safe workspace.
• Communicate supply needs, feedback, and updates to your team and supervisors.
• Stock and serve items during meal service and help with prep lists and freezer pulls.
• Adapt to different school locations, teams, and kitchen environments as needed.
• Jump in where needed from helping teammates, training new team members and assisting when someone is out.
