Responsibilities

  • Perform as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instruction in Reading, Mathematics, Workplace Communications, Career Success Standards, Health Education, Driver’s Education or HSD/HSE.
  • Promote a positive classroom atmosphere to maximize student motivation.
  • Maintain discipline to ensure learning and establish rapport with students.
  • Work with career tech instructors to coordinate curriculum development.
  • Prepare adequately for classroom activities and maintain student records in CIS.
  • Participate in evaluation of student performance (ESPs) and provide feedback on CSS.
  • Support meeting performance goals, learning gains, and certifications.
  • Follow applicable policies and conduct and comply with safety practices.

Primary Position Objectives

Prescribe individual and/or group lessons designed to assist students in overcoming specific difficulties in mathematics and reading. Provide instruction to students enrolled in Reading, Mathematics, Workplace Communications, Employability Skills, Health Education, Driver’s Education or HSD/HSE. Conduct and manage academic classes.

Position Responsibilities
  • Perform as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instruction in the areas of Reading, Mathematics, Workplace Communications, Career Success Standards, Health Education, Driver’s Education or HSD/HSE
  • Endeavor to promote a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting, ensuring maximum student motivation
  • Maintain a high degree of discipline within the classroom in order to ensure maximum learning
  • Establish a high degree of student/instructor rapport
  • Work directly with the career tech instructors in coordinating curriculum development
  • Utilize all possible curricular resource available at the Center
  • Make adequate preparation for the classroom
  • Maintain students’ personal folders, recording personal data, including test scores, evaluations, incident reports, achievement awards, and any other pertinent information concerning students. Records attendance in CIS
  • Participate in ESP’s (evaluation of student performance)
  • Evaluate student employees’ performance in academics and career success standards (CSS); Provide regular feedback to student employees regarding appropriate CSS
  • Work toward meeting performance standard goals, learning gains, HSD/HSE, trade completion, and career technical certification
  • Conduct audits of ATARS; develop corrective action as needed
  • Follow CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily
  • Assist with quarterly graduation exercises
  • Adhere to required property control policies and procedures
  • Maintain good housekeeping in all areas and comply with safety practices
  • Comply with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulation, Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), LifeSkills Connection policies and procedures, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate and abide by LifeSkills Connection’s core values and operating principles
  • Model, mentor, monitor appropriate Career Success Standards
  • Participate in PRH mandated staff training; Failure to participate may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Must be certified to teach in state in which center is location (RO may waive if center is unable to hire certified teachers, but the candidate must pursue certification)

Valid State Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
