Job summary

Right At School is seeking an Educator for after-school programs in California. You will support school-age children with a dynamic curriculum 2pm–6pm, enjoy teamwork with staff, and communicate with parents and school personnel to ensure safe, engaging activities.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year with children, a high school diploma or higher, and are able to lift 25 lbs. Training and state requirements are provided by the program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; two years of college preferred.
• Minimum 1 year experience working with children under 13.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Meet Live Scan fingerprint, CPR/FA, mandated reporter training, health cert with TB test.

Responsibilities

• Organize materials, document attendance, incidents, and observations.
• Deliver daily curriculum to engage children academically and socially.
• Model positive guidance and manage classroom safety and attention.
• Communicate effectively with children, parents, staff, and school personnel.
• Meet with Program Manager for progress and accountability.

Pay Range: Educator: $20-$22/ hour (based on education, experience)

Program Hours: Monday - Friday, 2pm - 6pm

** Hours of program will vary by school location and can be discussed in further detail during an interview.

You’ll drive the mission by:

• Organize program materials for lessons and activities, as well as document attendance, incidents and other observation
• Deliver our dynamic daily curriculum to engage children in academic and social character-building that expands school day learning in a meaningful way
• Using your coursework training and our in-person training, model positive guidance and effective classroom management to maintain the safety, well-being and attention of all children while supporting homework completion, leading fun fitness activities, and guiding children at play
• Excellent communication skills with varied audience including children, parents, staff and school personnel
• Model positive guidance and effective classroom management to maintain the safety and well-being and attention of all children
• Meets regularly with the Program Manager regarding professional progress and team accountability

Ideal Candidates will have the following:

• Outstanding customer service and relationship building skills
• Works well in a team environment
• At least 1 year of experience working with children under 13 years of age
• A high school diploma or the equivalent required; preferred -- two years of college (48 units); or an A.A. degree (or higher), or pass a local assessment of knowledge or skills that demonstrates the equivalent of the above requirements
• Ability to lift 25lbs
• Drive to inspire a love for learning and commitment to healthy living
• Ability to meet state-specific requirements: LIVE Scan fingerprint, FA/CPR, Mandated Reporter training, Health Certificate with Negative TB Test (from a physician)
