Job summary

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • For Title I-funded programs, candidate must have either an associate's degree, two years of college, or pass a state/local assessment demonstrating instructional ability.

Responsibilities

  • Provide extra assistance to students with special needs.
  • Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts.
  • Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, schoolyards, and gymnasiums, or on field trips.
  • Observe students' performance and record data to assess progress.
  • Discuss duties with teachers to coordinate instructional efforts.
  • Assist with organizing teaching materials and supplies.
  • Assist students with technology and learning equipment.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees.
  • Prepare lesson materials and bulletin board displays.
  • Carry out therapeutic regimens under supervision of specialists.
  • Provide care and report suspected issues as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information per policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
