Job summary

Illinois Education Job Bank seeks a part-time Custodian to maintain the district’s school facilities and grounds, ensuring a safe, clean, and functional learning environment.

The role reports to the Director of Facilities & Operations and works with the custodial team to meet daily cleaning schedules, safety standards, and district guidelines. English proficiency and a valid Illinois driver’s license are preferred; pre-employment background checks apply.

• Working knowledge of floor care and housekeeping.

• Willingness to work cooperatively with others on a custodial team to complete work assigned.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Ability to perform all phases of building operations and/or learn required skills.
• Ability to use common cleaning equipment and materials in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ability to meet schedules and time lines.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions in English.
• Employees possessing a valid Illinois driver's license are preferred.

Job description

Primary Function: To maintain the physical school plant and grounds in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of them may be made at all times

Reports to:

• Director of Facilities & Operations
• Facilities & Operations Manager 2nd Shift
• Receives technical and work direction from the lead custodian (where applicable)

Salary/Benefits

Terms of Employment: On an as needed basis Completion of mandated training through Global Compliance Network Compensation: $20.91 per hour
