Job summary

Lancaster County School District in Kilmarnock, Virginia is seeking a Substitute Custodian for Lancaster Elementary/High School with an immediate start. The role includes general cleaning, lunch coverage, and building upkeep to ensure safe, clean facilities.

Applicants should be able to operate cleaning equipment, read and follow written instructions, and work safely with machinery. Citizenship, residency or work visa is required for this position.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of cleaning techniques and standards.
• Ability to operate commercial cleaning equipment.
• Ability to read and write well enough to follow written instructions and labeling on products.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions and work safely with machinery.
• Education, training, or experience sufficient to demonstrate the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs general cleaning duties to include inside fixtures, floors, walls, and windows.
• Assists with school lunch coverage (day shift).
• Performs cleaning duties to include moving furniture, stripping floors, snow removal, and trash removal.
• Monitors halls and restrooms to ensure adequate stock levels.
• Secures building where applicable.
• Keeps grounds and outside walkways clean around the immediate perimeter of the building.
• Provides coverage for weekend activities.
• May be occasionally required to assist Facility Coordinators and maintenance personnel with building repairs.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
