Job Description

Must have high school diploma or equivalent.

Must be fingerprinted and receive background clearance through the State Education Department.

Must be able to communicate positively with outside organizations, parents, students and faculty.

Must perform duties as assigned by the Principal or Head Custodian.

Must undertake any training relevant to your role.

Must be a team player.

Punctual and reliable.

Ability to prioritize work and work with minimum supervision.

Must be flexible to the changing demands of the post.

Ability to work both alone and with a team to achieve specified standards.

Proven work experience as a cleaner.

Knowledge of cleaning methods, cleaning chemicals and supplies.

Cleaner position list of responsibilities

• Clean bathroom basins and sinks
  • Refill toilet and paper towel dispensers
  • Replenish liquid soap in soap dispensers
  • Wipe and wash down bathroom tiles using appropriate cleaners and disinfectants
  • Clean & polish mirrors and wipe residual paintwork
  • Empty trash bins and place them in recycle receptacles
  • Scrub and mop floors using cleaner
• Vacuum rugs & carpets and remove stains using brushes and cleaners
• Dust and mop hard flooring using appropriate cleaning devices (brooms, mop, etc)
• Cleans and dust furniture such as desks, chairs, etc
• Wipe down grubby hand marks and sanitize floors
• Empty trash bins and clean/wash bins on a regular basis
• Remove marks from doors and windows
• Clean telephones and extension phones
