General Description

Assist in the general operation of the school cafeteria food preparation and carries out other specific duties as assigned by the Head Cook and/or Service Manager, as needed.

Essential Functions

• Preparing food items.
• Adheres to prescribed recipes for food preparation.
• Completes essential functions and assists others, as needed, in preparing daily lunches.
• Adheres to rigid sanitary standards in food preparation.
• Sanitizes dish room equipment and tables daily.
• Fills and operates dishwasher.
• Assists in the kitchen and cafeteria clean‑up and maintains a clean and orderly work area.
• Assists in shelving food deliveries and taking inventory.
• Reports need for supplies and equipment to the Head Cook.
• Works at banquets as requested by Head Cook or Service Manager.
• Performs other cafeteria‑related duties as assigned by the Head Cook or the Service Manager.

Additional Working Conditions

• Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
• Occasional interaction among unruly children.
