Job summary

  • Inspects the bus before operation for mechanical defects.
  • Reports accidents and missing delays to the proper authority.
  • Enforces school system policies regarding bus conduct.

Job description

Primary Function

Provides for safe operation of the assigned bus and control of the passengers while transportation to and from their assigned education center or school related function.

Essential Duties
  • Obeys all traffic laws including speed limit and stopping at all railroad crossings.
  • Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
  • Maintains discipline when students are on bus.
  • Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
  • Keeps assigned bus clean.
  • Keeps to assigned schedule.
  • Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects.
  • Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness
  • Discharges students only at authorized stops.
  • Exercises responsible leadership when on out of district school trips.
  • Transports only authorized students.
  • Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
  • Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
  • Knows, abides by, and enforces school system policies.
Additional Responsibilities

Performs other duties assigned by Transportation Director

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Level: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Certification/Licensing: CDL driver's License
