Job summary

Leona Group Schools is hiring a full-time school bus driver to transport students between home, school, and activities across our Arizona campuses. You will adhere to schedules, follow safety procedures, and maintain orderly, safe bus operations while communicating with parents and school staff.

The role requires a valid school bus endorsement, CPR/First Aid credentials, and a current medical examiner's certificate, with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and professional conduct in

Qualifications

• Basic writing, reading and communications skills as acquired through a high school diploma or higher.
• Prior experience in driving a bus or commercial vehicle preferred.
• Driver’s license with Passenger and School bus endorsements.
• CPR certification
• First Aid certification
• Arizona school bus driver certificate issued by AZDPS/STU
• Medical Examiner's certificate
• Physical performance test (PPT)
• Clear background check including motor vehicle record to enable the individual to be covered through the school’s insurance regarding student transportation.
• Able to communicate professionally and politely with students and parents even in stressful situations such as delays or accidents; maintain order and discipline.
• Able to comply with routine safety procedures such as vehicle checks, end-of-shift sweep, and other duties.
• Clean pre-employment drug test and willingness to submit to random drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Drive school bus or other assigned vehicle to transport students between home and school or on school-sponsored activities.
• Adhere to transportation schedules so that students arrive on time to school or home.
• Follow all traffic rules, safety procedures, and school expectations for transportation programs.
• Report incidents, accidents, or safety concerns to school administration and complete related reports.
• Participate in safety drills, driver training, certification procedures, or other steps to maintain driving credentials.
• Submit to random drug tests as required by regulations.
• Implement student procedures to ensure safety on the bus and report behavior concerns.
• Communicate professionally with students and parents regarding needs or concerns; notify admins of deviations from schedule.
• Maintain high level of cleanliness on assigned vehicle(s).
• Notify administrator of repairs or maintenance on vehicle(s).

Maintain safe and clean bus conditions, keep necessary records, and communicate effectively with parents, students and staff about transportation-related matters.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. • Drive school bus or other assigned vehicle to transport students between home and school or on school-sponsored activities. Adhere to transportation schedules so that students arrive on time to school or home. Follow all assigned traffic rules, safety procedures, and school expectations for transportation programs.
• Report any incidents, accidents, or safety concerns to school administration. Complete related incident reports and comply fully with any accident investigation, insurance claim processing, safety checks, or other inquiries.
• Participate in any necessary safety drills, driver training, certification procedures, or other steps required to maintain driving credentials. Submit to random drug tests as required according to U.S. Department of Transportation requirements.
• Implement student procedures to ensure safety on the bus. Make necessary reports to parents and administrators when student behavior is a concern.
• Communicate professionally with students and parents regarding student needs or concerns; provide timely notice to parents and administrators in the event of any deviations from transportation schedule.
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness on assigned vehicle(s).
• Notify the administrator of any necessary repairs or maintenance on assigned vehicle(s).

QualificationsEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):

• Basic writing, reading and communications skills as acquired through a high school diploma or higher. Able to read and understand transportation instructions, traffic regulations and signs, and to make written and oral reports to supervisors.
• Prior experience in driving a bus or commercial vehicle preferred.
• Driver’s license w/ Passenger and School bus endorsements.

• Arizona school bus driver certificate issued by AZDPS/STU
• Medical Examiner's certificate

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
