Job summary

MSD of Mt. Vernon is seeking a Substitute Bus Driver to transport students on assigned routes in Mount Vernon, Indiana. The role requires a CDL with S Endorsement and related certifications, plus the ability to communicate well and ensure student safety.

Substitute drivers have flexibility to drive morning and/or afternoon routes and choose which days to drive. Training is provided for qualified candidates with no large-vehicle experience.

Qualifications

• Requires CDL with S Endorsement, Class B with Passenger and Air Brake Endorsement.
• Indiana Bus Driver Certification required or in progress.
• Approved bus driving skills as per district policy.
• No prior large-vehicle experience required; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students on assigned routes.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff and parents.
• Drive morning and/or afternoon routes as scheduled; select days to drive.

Job Description

This job requires the ability and necessary skills to safely transport children, good communication skills, ability to make sound judgments regarding student safety, and a willingness to work with people in a pleasant manner. Substitute drivers have flexibility to drive morning and/or afternoon routes and choose which days of the week they want to drive.No large vehicle driving experience needed, WE WILL TRAIN QUALIFIED CANDIDATES!

School bus drivers must obtain or currently hold the following:

• A. CDL with S Endorsement, Class B with Passenger and Air Brake Endorsement
• B. Indiana Bus Driver Certification
• C. Approved bus driving skills
• D. Other requirements as indicated by school district policy
• * The length of time on duty is determined by the route assigned.

The Board of School Trustees reserves the right to waive or modify these specifications.
