Position Responsibilities
  • Install electrical components inside substations, including switches, steel structures, breakers, control building wiring, etc.
  • Read blueprints or technical diagrams.
  • Install substation equipment such as steel structures, breakers, and switches.
  • Install and maintain wiring, control, and lighting systems.
  • Inspect electrical components like transformers and circuit breakers.
  • Repair or replace equipment or fixtures using hand and power tools.
  • Follow state and local building regulations based on the National Electrical Code.
  • Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring or equipment.
Skills
  • Identify electrical wires by color.
  • Perform tests and use results to diagnose problems, such as using a multimeter to check voltage, amperage, or resistance.
  • Work with people regularly, being friendly and able to address customer questions.
  • Move around all day while running wires and connecting fixtures.
  • Be strong enough to move heavy components, up to 50 pounds.
  • Diagnose and repair problems, such as motor failures.
  • Estimate materials and labor costs.
  • Skill in using and caring for all hand and shop tools and equipment of the electrician's trade.
Education

High School Diploma

Position Requirements
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States now and in the future.
  • At least 5 years of related experience, including supervisory or lead experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Training

On-the-job training, focusing on safety and compliance.
