Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Substation Structural Intern Engineer in Houston, TX. You will work under the guidance of licensed engineers, applying standard techniques to real projects while gaining hands-on experience in a collaborative, employee-owned culture.

Ideal candidates are pursuing an engineering degree, have a strong GPA, and possess solid problem-solving and communication skills. This is a full-time internship with mentorship and growth opportunities within HDR’s power division.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and communication skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Active participation in HDR's employee-owned culture is required.

Responsibilities

• Gain real-world experience on substation engineering projects.
• Engage with mentors and professional staff through programs for new graduates.
• Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures to assignments.
• Perform tasks under the supervision of a professional or Project Manager.

In the role of Substation Structural Intern Engineering, we'll count on you to:

• Gain real-world experience on exciting projects
• Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
• Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
• Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
• Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
• Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
